| This painting was completed in 1977 and was commissioned by the college to capture the beautiful and natural setting of the early campus. It employs the sky drama and lighting of the 17th Cent. Dutch painters and shows the Trinity logo embedded in the center. It was completed during Jake’s second year of college teaching and he has gone on to teach for 35 more years, completed hundreds of paintings, drawings, fine art prints in etching and lithography, and made thousands of clay vessels as well as large scale clay sculpture. He has mounted over 40 one-person exhibits and gained entry into regional and national competitions. This early work reflects and color palette and gestural strokes he continues to use in his current work.
